F1’s Latest Rumours, Talk: Fernando Alonso to Mercedes, Pascal Wehrlein and More

After Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg collided on the opening lap of last weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, it didn't take long for rumours surrounding Mercedes' Formula One driver lineup to resurface. Rosberg's contract is set to expire at the end of 2016, and despite his strong start to the season—the German has won four of the opening five races of the campaign—there is a risk his latest on-track incident with Hamilton could push him toward the exit door. With speculation that the championship leader has opened discussions with Ferrari, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has revealed McLaren-Honda's Fernando Alonso would be a leading candidate to partner Hamilton for 2017 if Rosberg decides to join Sebastian Vettel at the Prancing Horse. Mercedes Made the Right Call in Handling of Lewis Hamilton-Nico Rosberg Crash

The only surprising thing about Lewis Hamilton's collision with Nico Rosberg at the Spanish Grand Prix is that it did not happen sooner. For more than two years, the Mercedes team-mates have been duelling head-to-head for Formula One championships, yet this is the first time they have both retired from a race due to a crash with each other. Since the beginning of 2014, Hamilton and Rosberg have started alongside each other on the front row 30 times. There have been a few close calls—think back to last year in Japan and the United States—but the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix is the only other race where a collision between the team-mates cost Mercedes points (Hamilton was eventually forced to retire after Rosberg clipped the back ...

NASCAR at Charlotte 2016: Preview, Prediction for the Sprint Showdown

Skim off the cream line from milk in its purest form and you get the Sprint Showdown—a shootout of the also-rans from the Sprint Cup series. This gives them a fair shot at the All-Star Race, which follows on Saturday night, and it also gives these drivers a chance to compete, not just gum up traffic. Drivers like Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson would argue against that, but other drivers like Danica Patrick, Cole Whitt and Reed Sorenson can use the reps around Charlotte Motor Speedway to improve, maybe even sneak into the race in one of the three flights. The winners of the three showdowns (20 laps, 20 laps, 10 laps) earn spots in the All-Star Race with one driver earning a spot based on a fan vote. Let’s get moving o...

5 of the Most Interesting Radio Messages from 2016 Spanish Grand Prix

At the age of 18, Max Verstappen became the youngest-ever driver to win a Formula One race in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. After triumphing from fourth on the grid on his Red Bull debut, Verstappen's maiden victory proved he is—as many have predicted since his arrival on the grid last year—on course to achieve great things in the pinnacle of motor racing.  It proved the value of experience in top-level sport can be overemphasised at times. And it proved just how ridiculous F1's increased team radio restrictions really are, with television viewers prevented from hearing Verstappen's thoughts on his race until the boy wonder took the chequered flag. With a look at Sebastian Vettel's rant ...

Matt Kenseth Shows How Much Experience Counts by Beating Out Young Guns at Dover

As the laps wound down at Dover International Speedway, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott shared one sensation. They all felt an urgency to win. They had little else in common. Kenseth is 44 years old. His first top-five finish of the entire season had occurred the week before, but his triumph in the AAA 400 was the 37th of his career. "It was one of those days where everything lined up for us at the end of the race," Kenseth said. "It all worked out for us, kind of the opposite of what I feel like it's been going the last couple months." Larson is 23. It was his 87th NASCAR Sprint Cup start. As a rookie in 2014, he had finished in the top five eight times. He's only had four more since. "We were better than Matt there," he said...

Formula 1’s Latest Rumours and Talk: Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, Ferrari and More

On his debut for Red Bull Racing, Max Verstappen became the youngest driver to win a Formula One race in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. After losing a head-to-head fight with new team-mate Daniel Ricciardo in qualifying, the 18-year-old ensured he came out on top in the race, producing a mature drive from fourth on the grid. Utilising a two-stop tyre strategy, Verstappen withstood huge pressure from Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen in the latter stages of the race and has explained how he managed to keep the 2007 world champion, who is twice his age, behind until the chequered flag. Raikkonen may never have a better opportunity to add to his 20 grand prix wins, having struggled to come close to overtaking Verstap...

Spanish Grand Prix 2016: Winners and Losers from Barcelona Race

Max Verstappen claimed the first victory of his Formula One career in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. After starting fourth on the grid, the 18-year-old drove with exceptional maturity on his Red Bull debut to withstand late pressure from Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and become the youngest winner in the history of the sport. Verstappen's route to success was helped by the trials and tribulations of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, who both retired on the first lap after making contact at Turn 4.  The incident left both championship protagonists red-faced, but the collision's fallout only enhanced the reputation of the Mercedes hierarchy—and team boss Toto Wolff in particular. With a look at Daniel ...
