Formula 1’s Latest Rumours and Talk: McLaren-Honda, Daniel Ricciardo and More

As the Formula One fraternity heads to Monaco for the sixth round of the 2016 season, McLaren-Honda are sensing an opportunity. With lingering concerns over the performance of their V6 turbo power unit, the tight, twisty streets of Monte Carlo should play to the strengths of the team's MP4-31 chassis and allow McLaren to extend their run of top-10 finishes. But the Woking-based outfit are not just targeting points at the principality, with racing director Eric Boullier explaining why Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button can beat the Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen on merit. While McLaren are hoping to take their chances in Monaco, Daniel Ricciardo is still reflecting on the one that got away. The Australian had comfortably led ...

After strong performances Saturday and Sunday, James Hinchcliffe will be the pole-sitter for next Sunday's race, with Josef Newgarden driving alongside him. Hinchcliffe's return from last year's nearly fatal crash at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the big story to take away from this weekend's qualifying run, and he'll have a chance to put a stamp on his storybook comeback with a win next week. Eyes will be on those two when the green flag waves, but here's a look at the rest of the pole results for next week's race: It was almost one year ago to the day when Hinchcliffe was involved in one ...

Joey Logano Emerges Victorious, Pockets $1M Amid NASCAR’s All-Star Confusion

Some evidence suggested the best way to cope with NASCAR's most convoluted event in memory was to keep it simple. Take, for instance, the winner. Joey Logano, who won the Sprint All-Star Race's $1 million prize, said after the rain had long stopped falling and the confusion settled: There was a point I came over the radio and said, 'I don't now what's going on. I don't really want to know what's going on. Let me drive the car and you (crew chief Todd Gordon) call the race,' because I was confused. All I know is if there's a car in front of me, I probably should pass him, and that's kind of where my head was. Logano continued, "Sometimes the simple life is a little easier inside the race car." Ah, the simple life. Strapped into a lou...

MotoGP Grand Prix of Italy 2016 Results: Winner, Standings and Reaction

Jorge Lorenzo edged Marc Marquez by the slimmest of margins to claim victory in Sunday's MotoGP Italian Grand Prix to earn his fifth title at Mugello in the space of six years and extend his lead at the top of the standings. A technical issue saw pole leader Valentino Rossi prevented from contesting for the crown in front of a home audience as he dropped further back in the riders' standings with his second retirement of the campaign. Victory also saw Lorenzo seal back-to-back MotoGP wins for the first time in the 2016 season and extend his lead at the summit of the riders' standings, while Andrea Iannone claimed third place on the podium. It was a desperately close finish between the two remaining stars of Yamaha and Honda, and the officia...

Indy 500 Qualifying 2016: Start Time, TV Schedule and Pole Predictions

May 29 will mark the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There have been many noteworthy moments in the last 100 years of this historic race. From close finishes to memorable wrecks, the Indy 500 has long been at the center of the racing world alongside the Daytona 500. While securing a decent starting position in qualifying should normally make an impact, that hasn't been the case in the Indy 500. The last four winners of the prestigious race, including last year's winner Juan Pablo Montoya, started the race 10th or worse. That doesn't bode well for whomever comes out of Sunday's qualifying as the pole-sitter. Here are some predictions and the TV information you'll need to watch Sunday's qualifying. Indy ...

Rumoured Heineken Deal Good for Formula 1, but Not Necessarily Individual Teams

The Netherlands is the centre of the Formula One universe this week. First, there was Dutch driver Max Verstappen's astonishing win in Spain, and now there are rumours that brewing giant Heineken is set to announce a new sponsorship deal with the racing series. The agreement is said to be worth $150 million over five years, according to a report in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf (h/t the Guardian's Paul Weaver). This is great news for Formula One Management (FOM), the sport's commercial rights holder, coming on the back of Shell's recent withdrawal as a series sponsor (though their relationship with Ferrari continues), per German website Motorsport-Total.com (h/t Crash.net). It is not necessarily great news for F1's teams, thou...

NASCAR at Charlotte 2016: Winners and Losers from the Sprint All-Star Race

Disclaimer: This little slider will not—repeat, will not—clear up anything you saw last night/this morning during the Sprint All-Star Race. “The theater of the absurd continues,” said FS1’s Chris Myers while drawing the inversion numbers. There were missed mandatory pit stops, one giant wreck and no wave arounds—then some wave arounds. Somewhere in that whole mess was Joey Logano on four fresh tires running down Kyle Larson, who also had four fresh Goodyears, to win his (Logano’s) first All-Star Race. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said over the radio during the FS1 broadcast, “This reminds me of what it was like driving a remote-control helicopter for the first time. I didn’t know what’s goin...

NASCAR All-Star Race 2016 Results: Winner, Standings, Highlights and Reaction

Joey Logano is $1 million richer after winning his first NASCAR All-Star Race on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt Jr. rounded out the top three, with Carl Edwards and Kurt Busch completing the top five: Logano trailed Kyle Larson with three laps remaining, and Larson looked to be on his way to winning the race. But Larson clipped the wall and fell out of contention, ending up in 16th. Once Larson was out, Logano finished the job and took home the top prize. NASCAR tweeted this out after Logano crossed the finish line: Ryan Truex, who was pulling for Larson, was sad when he lost control in the final laps: Despite noticeable puddles on the road from the ongoing weather issues throughout the...

Indy 500 Qualifying Results 2016: Final Times from Saturday’s Races

Here is a rundown of how every driver fared on Day 1: Several big-name drivers secured a spot in the top nine, but Hinchcliffe's impressive run was enough to put him in the catbird seat entering Sunday. According to Nick DeGroot of Motorsport.com, Hinchcliffe took the top spot by setting a blistering pace on three of his four laps: The Canadian star pulled off the feat one year after a devast...
