The 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 Sunday has few equals in the sporting realm. It's not just the fast pace, risky overtakes and ever-evolving aerodynamics of the sport. The athletes involved—from James Hinchcliffe's comeback story to Ed Carpenter's legendary status—make for a deep and entertaining field.   Qualifying was proof enough. The action was intense and came down to milliseconds to form the official starting grid,  from which each driver will then trek the 500 miles in search of a checkered flag. Here's a look at the official grid: It's all about Hinchcliffe this year—and not because he won the pole. He looked great last year in practice before a near-fatal wreck.  "My last memory of the Spe...

Formula 1’s Latest Rumours and Talk: Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and More

As the 2016 Formula One season gets set to resume with the Monaco Grand Prix, all eyes will be on Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg following their first-lap crash in Spain on May 15. The drivers have clashed on several occasions since Mercedes' rise to prominence at the beginning of 2014, but the Spanish GP was the first time both drivers were forced to retire as a direct result of an on-track collision. An incident of that magnitude would normally risk splitting a team in half, but Hamilton has insisted his relationship with Rosberg remains unchanged after clear-the-air talks ahead of the Monte Carlo weekend. If there are any cracks in the relationship between the Mercedes team-mates, Fernando Alonso—still searching for that elusive t...

Monaco Grand Prix 2016 Preview: Start Time, TV Info, Weather, Schedule, Odds

After a spectacularly unpredictable Spanish Grand Prix, where Lewis Hamilton took Nico Rosberg out on Lap 1 and Max Verstappen claimed his maiden victory, Formula One heads down the Mediterranean coast to Monaco. The Monaco Grand Prix was first held in 1929 and has been run continuously since 1955. Run through the tight, twisty streets of the city, Monaco remains perhaps the toughest test of the season for the drivers. Even the smallest mistakes are punished with a race-ending smash into the Armco barriers lining the circuit. If you hate the endless run-off areas at the modern, Hermann Tilke-designed tracks, Monaco is the race for you. "When I think of Monaco, I always remember the first time I drove there in a Formula 1 car and went at ful...

NASCAR at Charlotte 2016: Preview, Prediction for the Coca-Cola 600

Now that the fiasco that was the All-Star Race is behind us, we now return to your regularly scheduled racing, the longest race on the calendar: the Coca-Cola 600, aka the Coke 600. No, that’s not the nutrition facts, that’s the mileage, 400 laps, a test of endurance and certainly pit strategy. Carl Edwards won his first race for Joe Gibbs Racing a year ago at this time using a killer fuel gamble that ultimately put the No. 19 car in Victory Lane, lifting the chimpanzee off his back-flipping shoulders. "It's so cool to get this win—we've had such bad luck," said Edward in Reid Spencer’s NASCAR.com story from a year ago. "And we were the slowest of the [JGR cars] tonight, but we had [crew chief] Darian [Grubb] on the ...

Monaco Grand Prix 2016: 5 Bold Predictions for Monte Carlo Race

The sixth round of the 2016 Formula One season will take place at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, where Red Bull will be the favourites to win a race for the first time in almost three years. Max Verstappen's arrival from Toro Rosso has re-energised the four-time world champions, and everyone in the paddock seemed to be touched by the 18-year-old's recent record-breaking victory in Spain. Everyone except the boy wonder's new team-mate, Daniel Ricciardo, who almost seemed personally offended that he was denied the opportunity to take Red Bull's first win in two seasons having made a habit of taking advantage of Mercedes' mishaps throughout his breakthrough season in 2014. But with Red Bull's RB12 chassis set to be strong on the streets of ...
