Formula 1’s Latest Rumours and Talk: Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and More

When, at the end of the 2015 Formula One season, Toto Wolff warned Mercedes would be prepared to change their driver lineup despite retaining the world championship, the team boss sent a clear message to Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. If the drivers were unable to put aside their personal differences for the sake of the team, one of them would lose the honour and privilege of driving the fastest car in the sport. And Wolff's words appear to have done the trick, with Hamilton revealing his relationship with Rosberg is—surprisingly given the 24-point gap between the pair in the drivers' standings—healthier than it has been for some time. The ever-strengthening bond between the team-mates is likely to be good news for the German,...

NASCAR at Sonoma 2016: Winners and Losers from the Toyota-Save Mart 350

Oh man, I’m not usually a blowhard when it comes to most things, least of all NASCAR races, but the finish to the Toyota-Save Mart 350(km) was a sham. Sorry, getting ahead of myself. Let’s state a few facts: Tony Stewart “won” this race when Denny Hamlin “messed up” turning for home. Meanwhile, the FS1 broadcast went all "2015 Jeff Gordon at Martinsville in the Chase" all over Stewart. We saw no shortage of high-fives and general good cheer*. Stewart earned his win; now he must crest the top 30 in points, and he’ll be Chase-bound. More on this and more inside this slider. Read on for this week's winners and losers. *As a result, you’ll have next to no quotes from drivers since the broadcast co...

B/R Exclusive: Romain Grosjean on Instagram-Filtered F1 and Love for Gene Haas

MONTREAL — Romain Grosjean has 10 Formula One podium finishes in his career. It is difficult to tell whether we should be impressed by that number, given he hasn't spent a ton of time in a top car, or disappointed that a driver with such obvious talent has not had the machinery to allow him to shine as his career has progressed. After two difficult years at Lotus (now Renault), with the team struggling for pace on the track and cash off it, the 30-year-old Grosjean is experiencing something of a rebirth with American newcomers Haas F1. Grosjean and his new team shocked the F1 world with a sixth-place finish on their debut at the Australian Grand Prix. At the next race, in Bahrain, Grosjean was fifth. Following an eighth-place finish i...

MotoGP Dutch Grand Prix 2016 Results: Winner, Standings and Reaction

Jack Miller took his maiden win in a controversial 2016 MotoGP Dutch Grand Prix race on Saturday, beating standings leader Marc Marquez to top spot in dreadful weather conditions.  Conditions in Assen were horrid right from the start, and the weather deteriorated to the point where the race was red-flagged with 12 laps to go. The re-start raw more than half a dozen crashes in the first few laps, and Valentino Rossi was arguably the top victim, as the nine-time world champion didn't finish the race. This allowed Marquez, who trailed the Italian before the race was red-flagged, to increase his lead in the championship standings, and Rossi won't be happy with the decision to suspend the race in the first place. Here's a look at the race r...

John Wes Townley, Spencer Gallagher Fight After NASCAR Truck Series Crash

John Wes Townley and Spencer Gallagher engaged in a physical altercation during a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event Saturday night after the two appeared to exchange words regarding a crash with under 10 laps remaining. The first came on Lap 149, and it was the second a few laps later at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois, that led to the scuffle.   NASCAR driver Tony Stewart offered his take on the incident, which was not the first between Townley and Gallagher: On Monday, Gallagher spoke on the fight and apologized, per B...

Grading Jolyon Palmer’s Start to Life in Formula 1

Having followed in the footsteps of Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hulkenberg and Romain Grosjean by winning the GP2 championship in 2014, there is little doubt that Jolyon Palmer is deserving of a chance in Formula One. Unable to find a race seat in the immediate aftermath of his success in F1's official feeder category, the British driver took the next-best option and secured a reserve-driver role at a mid-grid team, participating in a number of free-practice sessions for Lotus in 2015. When Grosjean ran out of patience with Lotus' financial struggles toward the end of last season and joined the new Haas team, Palmer—having raised a budget of £7 million, per the Telegraph's Daniel Johnson—was in the right place ...
