NASCAR at Kentucky 2016: Winners and Losers from the Quaker State 400

Brad Keselowski said it best after the race on NBCSN's Victory Lap, "I stole one from the candy jar tonight." What exactly did he mean by that? More on that later. His masterful driving toward the end of the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway proved worthy of a second straight win and his fourth of the season. The early part of the race was mired in cautions brought out by tire wear in Turns 3 and 4, but late in the race the game changed toward fuel strategy, and it was Keselowski outlasting a baited Carl Edwards for the win. Ryan Newman got up for third. If you read the preview and prediction for this race, you'd know that Kez was the pick and Newman was the dark horse. Do I get a winner slide? No, but several others do for this latest ...

NASCAR at Kentucky 2016 Results: Winner, Standings, Highlights and Reaction

Brad Keselowski had just enough gas in the tank to take the checkered flag at NASCAR Sprint Cup's Quaker State 400 from Kentucky Speedway on Saturday night. It's his fourth win of the season and his second in as many weeks after he won the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona last time out.  Here are the full results of the race and the updated driver standings: In a race with 11 cautions, the final 69 laps were contested under the green flag, as the Quaker State 400 became a fuel-mileage affair. Keselowski made only four pit stops during the entire 267-lap race and ran the final 71 laps without a break.  With no stoppages or pits, that meant Keselowski, like most racers, was running low on gas as the race neared its finish. But his ability...

NASCAR at Kentucky 2016: Live Results and Analysis from the Quaker State 400

Brad Keselowski crossed the start-finish line on fumes after seeming to run out of fuel on the closing lap to capture the checkered flag in Saturday night's wild Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway.  Keselowski, along with much of the field, elected to push the limits of the fuel window on the recently repaved 1.5-mile track and saved just enough to hold off Carl Edwards, who was right on his bumper coming out of the final turn. The win is the fourth of the season for Keselowski, who also won last Saturday at Daytona. Edwards finished second in a race that showcased NASCAR's experimental low-downforce package and tied a track record with 11 cautions. Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart rounded out the top-five finishers. NASCAR'...

NASCAR at Kentucky 2016: Complete Race Order After Qualifying Canceled

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has made its way to rainy Kentucky Speedway for the Quaker State 400, which is set to be run Saturday barring the weather.   It's already taken a toll on race weekend, as inclement weather forced NASCAR to cancel Friday's qualifying: Instead of drivers taking to the track to decipher the race's order, NASCAR's points standings set the field for Saturday's race: This is only the sixth installment of the Quaker State 400, and in five previous races, there have only been three different winners.  According to Joe Menzer of Fox Sports, Kurt Busch would have started third, but Busch wrecked on Friday and will need to resort to a backup car in the race, which requires him to start at the back of the p...

5 Ways Kimi Raikkonen’s 2017 Ferrari Contract May Affect Formula 1 Driver Market

Despite Kimi Raikkonen's status as the most popular driver on the grid, Formula One let out a collective groan when his latest contract extension was confirmed by Ferrari ahead of the British Grand Prix. While many remain smitten with his monosyllabic tone of voice and one-word answers to half-baked media questions, there was an overwhelming suspicion that the 2007 world champion had reached the natural end of his time in the pinnacle of motorsport. The 36-year-old's frustratingly inconsistent performances over the last two-and-a-half seasons had led to calls for Raikkonen to be replaced by a younger, fresher face, but crucial to the Finn's stay of execution was the opinion of Sebastian Vettel, whose status as Ferrari's lead driver has been...
