NASCAR at New Hampshire 2016: Live Results from the New Hampshire 301

Matt Kenseth worked his way up through the field all afternoon and led 38 laps to capture the checkered flag in Sunday afternoon's New Hampshire 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Kenseth didn't have the fastest car on the track, but his team made the necessary adjustments on pit road to allow him to capitalize when opportunity presented itself. He first took the lead from Martin Truex Jr. on Lap 258 and then regained it for good from teammate Denny Hamlin on Lap 271 after the 11 car stayed out under caution while the rest of the field got fresh tires.  Tony Stewart finished second. Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle rounded out the top-five finishers. Alex Bowman, filling in for Dale Earnhardt Jr., who is out with concussion...

Why Formula 1 Tyre Controversies Look Set to Continue into 2017

Formula One is trapped in some sort of Goldilocks storyline when it comes to tyre durability: First they are too soft, then too hard, then too soft, again. The only difference is that F1 never seems to find a level of tyre degradation that is just right. And, based on Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery's recent interview with the official F1 website, the controversy and bickering surrounding the tyres looks set to continue into 2017—a symptom of the sport's convoluted rule-making process, where the teams have an equal say to the FIA, the supposed governing body. Understandably, the teams are looking out for their own best interests, which sometimes clash with what is best for the series as a whole. This leads to ad hoc and react...

Grading Rio Haryanto’s Start to Life in Formula 1

Rio Haryanto became the final piece of Formula One's 2016 jigsaw puzzle in mid-February when, just four days before the start of winter testing, he was confirmed as a Manor Racing driver for the new season. With a patchy record in GP2—each of his three victories in F1's official feeder series came in reverse-grid "sprint" races—it was obvious from the outset that Haryanto's signing had more to do with the size of his budget than the size of his talent. A £10 million gift from the Indonesian government, as reported by Motorsport.com's Jonathan Noble, certainly would have come in handy for a Manor team who had emerged from the depths of administration less than 12 months earlier. Considering that Haryanto was placed alongsid...

NASCAR at New Hampshire 2016: Start Time, Ticket Info, Lineup, TV Schedule, More

NASCAR is the Brad Keselowski show going into Sunday's New Hampshire 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Keselowski has now won two races in a row after last week's triumph in Kentucky. He's helping to clog the Chase picture, as is Dale Earnhardt Jr. being unable to race this weekend thanks to concussion-like symptoms, according to ESPN.com's Bob Pockrass. The Chase scene is one of the oddest in recent memory, with guys like Earnhardt on the outside looking in and a rejuvenated Tony Stewart having punched his bid three races ago. Sunday gives the hopefuls another shot. But it also gives the dominant names such as Keselowski a chance to dictate the grid while keeping momentum. Here's everything to know about the event.      V...

Three rounds of qualifying Friday set the field for Sunday's New Hampshire 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. NASCAR showed his lap: Here are the full qualifying results, race order and times: According to NASCAR on NBCSN, Friday was the first time in his storied career that Johnson has won the pole for a Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which presents a different kind of challenge to NASCAR drivers. The turns at the narrow 1.6-mile track are not as severely banked as other tracks in the country. That means drivers have to spend more time on the brakes instead of maintaining higher speeds around the t...

NASCAR at New Hampshire 2016: Preview, Prediction for the New Hampshire 301

Kyle Busch held up the King of All Lobsters, the only living trophy (that we know of) in the Sprint Cup Series, in the New Hampshire 301 in 2015. Busch gunned his car to get on the lead lap late in the race and hauled his car through traffic in the final 50 to earn the top spot. He said in Reid Spencer’s NASCAR.com story: We shot to pit road and got it changed there, and evidently it was oil on the race track that just made the car slip so bad from out from under me. We got a lucky break and I hauled butt, man, those five laps I ran were five qualifying laps through traffic trying to get back up to the front and pass [Kevin] Harvick to stay on the lead lap. That was our saving bucket right there. That was what we needed to do. And y...
