It was a similar story in the morning, as Rosberg produced a sizzling lap to pull clear of the field. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel was third-fastest in both sessions. Rosberg heads into his home race trailing Hamilton by six points after the world champion's win in Hungary last weekend. Formula 1’s Latest Rumours and Talk: Fernando Alonso, James Allison and More

As one of the finest drivers of his generation, Fernando Alonso would dearly love to fight for the Formula One title once more. But with his McLaren-Honda team still not quite strong enough to compete for major honours, the two-time world champion is, like the rest of us, taking much interest in the battle between Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Rosberg was the overwhelming favourite to claim the 2016 crown after victories in each of the opening four races gave him a 43-point championship lead, but Hamilton has taken just two months to turn that large deficit into a six-point advantage. And Alonso is backing his former McLaren team-mate, who he believes is among the most difficult drivers to race alongside, to win a fourth...

German Grand Prix 2016 Preview: Start Time, TV Info, Weather, Schedule, Odds

After a one-year hiatus, the German Grand Prix is back. Hockenheim, in southwestern Germany, near the French border, hosts the race on Sunday. Mercifully, the German race marks the end of a ridiculous six grands prix in eight weekends and the beginning of the four-week summer break. Lewis Hamilton leads the championship for the first time this season after a dominant performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix. On the constructors' side, Mercedes are once again running away with the title, but Ferrari lead Red Bull by one point for second place in what should be a fascinating battle for the rest of the season. From 1977 to 2006, the Hockenheimring hosted the German Grand Prix every year except for 1985 (Michele Alboreto's last Formula One win)....

NASCAR at Pocono 2016: Preview, Prediction for the Pennsylvania 400

We should probably talk about what happened this past weekend at the Brickyard 400 before we talk about the upcoming Pennsylvania 400 at Pocono Raceway. Kyle Busch's win was so much more than the 149 laps led or the fact that he won two years in a row. That was a reminder to the NASCAR world at large that Joe Gibbs Racing is through being a summer doormat. Excluding Matt Kenseth’s win in Loudon and Busch’s schoolyard beatdown at Indy, JGR hadn’t “won” a race since Martin Truex Jr. took the other 39 drivers to the woodshed at Charlotte. “Won” because he’s merely a JGR ally in this war. Including Truex’s Coca-Cola 600 win, JGR had won seven of eight races, with four- and three-race win str...

German Grand Prix 2016: 5 Bold Predictions for Hockenheim Race

The 12th round of the 2016 Formula One season will take place at this weekend's German Grand Prix at the Hockenheim circuit, where Nico Rosberg will need to halt the slide. The German established a 43-point advantage over Lewis Hamilton after winning the opening four races of the year, but now he finds himself six points adrift of his Mercedes team-mate having been restricted to just three podium appearances in the last seven races. With Hamilton enjoying his best run of form since last autumn, and given the three-time world champion's habit of producing his best performances in the second half of a season, Rosberg simply must hit back before F1 enters its monthlong summer break. With a look at a surprise podium finisher, potential accident...
