Belgian F1 Grand Prix 2016 Qualifying: Saturday’s Results, Times, Final Grid

Nico Rosberg will start Sunday’s Formula One Belgian Grand Prix in pole position, as he looks to close the gap on team-mate and championship leader Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton was hit with a 55-place grid penalty ahead of qualifying due to requiring three engine changes, which means he’ll start at the back of the pack at Spa-Francorchamps, as reported by the BBC's Andrew Benson. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was second fastest around the famous track, while Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen came home in third. Here’s a look at the full standings from a competitive qualifying session, via Formula 1: In Q1, it was Williams’ Felipe Massa who went fastest with a lap of one minute, 47.738 seconds. Sebastien Vettel and team-m...

Why Lewis Hamilton Should Start from Pit Lane in 2016 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa

As Lewis Hamilton made a stuttering start to the 2016 Formula One season, it didn't take long for the conspiracy theorists to crawl out of the woodwork. Following the three-time world champion's poor getaways from pole position in Australia and Bahrain, and his two identical MGU-H failures in as many qualifying sessions in China and Russia, those stuck in cyberspace quickly became convinced Mercedes were deliberately plotting against their star driver. After almost two years of Hamilton dominance, they said, the team had clearly decided this was the turn of Nico Rosberg—who had quickly established a 43-point lead with victories in the opening four races—to share some of the Silver Arrows' success. Why else would they decide to ...

Belgian F1 Grand Prix 2016 Qualifying: Results, Times from Friday’s Practice

Max Verstappen was fastest in second practice on Friday at the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix, edging out fellow Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo. The 18-year-old posted the fastest time of the day on the supersoft tyre ahead of his team-mate; Force India's Nico Hulkenberg finished third. Mercedes pair Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton focused on long runs in the afternoon, posting the sixth and 13th quickest times, respectively. Earlier in the day, Rosberg topped the standings in the first practice session, comfortably ahead of his team-mate on the quickest tyre compound. It has also been confirmed Hamilton will serve a 30-place grid penalty in Sunday’s race after he was fitted with a new engine, per Sky Sports. The world champion will...

Formula 1’s Latest Rumours and Talk: McLaren-Honda, Felipe Nasr to Renault, More

As the 2016 Formula One season resumes at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, decision time is fast approaching for McLaren-Honda. It is common knowledge that Jenson Button is fighting with reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne for the opportunity to partner two-time world champion Fernando Alonso in 2017, with the team seemingly forced to decide between experience and youth. And racing director Eric Boullier has said the team cannot afford to let their heart rule their head when making such a huge decision. With F1's month-long summer break coming to an end, the driver market is beginning to get very interesting, and arguably, the one to watch over the coming weeks is Felipe Nasr. The Brazilian has recently admitted he would be happy to remain w...

NASCAR at Michigan 2016: Preview, Prediction for the Pure Michigan 400

And then there were three. Three races remain in the regular season before the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The series heads back to Michigan International Speedway for the Pure Michigan 400—400 laps and 200 miles of low downforce racing. This didn’t result in a great race two months ago. Joey Logano dominated, leading 138 of the 200 laps. Perhaps the race was best remembered for how two winless drivers—Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson—dueled for second place. Elliott edged Larson while Logano, presumably, snickered like an old-timey bank robber from a silent movie, all the while twirling an invisible mustache on his way to Victory Lane. So, yes, three weeks remain, and many drivers are pinned into a corner, desperate...

Belgian Grand Prix 2016 Preview: Start Time, TV Info, Weather, Schedule, Odds

After a four-week break, Formula One returns this week for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. The fast, undulating circuit south-east of Liege, near the German border, is a favourite among drivers and about as close as any current track gets to the high-speed layouts of the sport's early years. Lewis Hamilton, you may remember, won six of the last seven races before the summer holiday to open a 19-point lead over his Mercedes team-mate, Nico Rosberg, in the drivers' standings. Hamilton won last year at Spa, as well as back in 2010, when he was still racing for McLaren. Among the current drivers, though, Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen has the best record in Belgium, taking four wins in five races between 2004 and 2009 (the Belgian Grand ...
