Cole Custer Tackles John Hunter Nemechek After NASCAR Truck Series Race

John Hunter Nemechek won Sunday’s NASCAR Truck Series race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, but it was far from a conventional finish. In fact, it looked like something out of an amusement-park bumper-car race. Custer was ahead during the final stretch, but Nemechek pushed him into the fence before they both crossed the finish line off the track, as Fox Sports 1 shared: According to Joe Rodgers of Sporting News, Custer led 39 laps before the dramatic ending. He was not pleased with missing out on the opportunity to close with a victory and took out his frustrations accordingly, via Fox Sports: NASCAR: “Rubbin’ is racin’,” Nemechek said in Victory Lane, per Rodgers.  Nemechek beat Custer by 0.034 seconds...

NASCAR at Darlington 2016: Winners and Losers from the Bojangles’ Southern 500

Martin Truex Jr. only led 28, but it wasn’t the sheer number of laps led that mattered in the Bojangles’ Southern 500, it was the timing of them on NASCAR’s Throwback Weekend. The No. 78 car was the fastest car when it mattered as it held off a frustrated Kevin Harvick (more on this later) to win two-thirds of NASCAR’s crowned jewels: the Coca-Cola 600 and the Southern 500. To think Truex came within an inch of sweeping those 1,600 miles. “This is unbelievable,” Truex told NBC during the broadcast. “I’ve always loved this race track. Something always happened. I’m so proud to get to Victory Lane. Pit crew won this race for us tonight.” The weekend was colored all kinds of retro, an...

NASCAR at Darlington 2016 Results: Winner, Standings, Highlights and Reaction

Kevin Harvick led for 214 of the 367 laps at Sunday's Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, but he didn't lead the final and most important one. Martin Truex Jr. jumped to the front of the pack down the stretch on Sunday and then outraced Harvick in a two-man finish to clinch the victory. NASCAR on NBC shared the celebratory reaction from No. 78: Here is a look at Truex Jr. and the rest of the top 10 finishers: Here are the updated Sprint Cup Series driver standings following Sunday's race, per NASCAR.com: While Truex Jr. captured the checkered flag at the end, there was an interesting start to Sunday's race. According to Jonathan Merryman of NASCAR.com, the first two pace laps occurred in "single file to give all the fans a cha...

NASCAR at Darlington 2016: Live Results from the Bojangles Southern 500

Martin Truex Jr. didn't have the fastest car, but he led the only lap that mattered to capture the checkered flag in Sunday evening's Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina.  Truex led just 28 laps on the night but took advantage of opportunities when they came his way to hold off Kevin Harvick down the stretch and take home his second win of the season and first career at the Lady in Black. Harvick was the dominant car on the track for much of the race. He led a race-high 214 laps but was undone by a pair of bad pit stops late in the night that cost him a total of 17 positions on the track and forced him to make his way back up through the field. Those extended stops turned a possible win into a second-place fi...

Italian Grand Prix 2016: Winners and Losers from Monza Race

Nico Rosberg claimed his seventh victory of the 2016 Formula One season in Sunday's Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The German was comprehensively beaten to pole position by Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton on Saturday, but the three-time world champion's slow start gifted Rosberg the lead at the first corner. Having exited Turn 1 in sixth place, Hamilton recovered well to finish second—limiting the damage to his lead in the drivers' standings. The Mercedes drivers were joined on the podium by Sebastian Vettel, who finished third despite another questionable Ferrari strategy. With a look at an encouraging weekend for Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and Williams' Valtteri Bottas, and a day to forget for Manor and Sauber's Felipe Nasr, here a...

Will Poor Starts Cost Lewis Hamilton the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship?

By now it has become an all-to-familiar refrain to the 2016 Formula One season. Again, at Sunday's Italian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton made a poor start from pole position that cost him a chance at victory. Hamilton has qualified first at seven of the 14 grands prix so far this year, but he has won just three of those races. His record from pole is not quite as bad as that of his Mercedes team-mate, Nico Rosberg, two years ago, but like Rosberg, his inability to turn Saturday speed into Sunday wins could end up costing him the drivers' championship. Back in 2014, Rosberg converted just three of his 11 poles into race wins, a historically awful mark. In fact, of the 12 drivers to score at least 10 poles in a single season, Rosberg's...

Italian F1 Grand Prix 2016 Results: Winner, Standings, Highlights and Reaction

Nico Rosberg stormed to within two points of Formula One leader Lewis Hamilton after rampaging to victory in the 2016 Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, where his Mercedes team-mate was forced to settle for second place.  Hamilton made a horror start at Monza and allowed Rosberg to take a lead he rarely looked like losing, leaving the Brit to take second on the podium, while Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel placed for the first time since June. Speaking to the media after his victory, Rosberg looked to the supporters to show his appreciation: Hamitlon recovered well to place second, but the Briton was quick to salute the efforts of his team-mate in what was a very positive day for his team: Sunday's win also saw Rosberg tie up back-to-back race...

NASCAR at Darlington 2016: Start Time, Ticket Info, Lineup, TV Schedule and More

Darlington is among the most challenging tracks in all of NASCAR, and the sport's top drivers will look to conquer the Lady in Black Sunday with the Chase for the Sprint Cup quickly approaching. Among Darlington's nicknames is the Track Too Tough to Tame, but with time running out for the drivers on the Chase bubble, they need to dig deep and come through with a great performance in order to put themselves in position to race for a championship. With Hurricane Hermine causing the cancellation of qualifying and creating some uncertainty for Sunday's race, the possibility for a rain-shortened event is present. That could lead to another surprise winner, much like Chris Buescher at August's Pennsylvania 400. Ahead of the Bojangles' Southern 50...
