NASCAR at New Hampshire 2016 Qualifying Results: Race Order, Times, Reaction

In preparation of Sunday's Bad Boy Off Road 300 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the second race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase's round of 16, the field was set on Friday in three rounds of qualifying.  Carl Edwards took the pole as he leads a field of 40 drivers that looks like this: Edwards has been a qualifying machine at New Hampshire, as Friday was the third pole in his last four races at this track.  It's also his sixth pole of the year, via Xfinity Racing: It puts him in a great position to solidify his spot in the top 12 of the Chase, which would ensure that he'd move on to the second round. He is in ninth within the Chase standings but isn't content with just the pole win, via Lee Spencer of Motorsport.com: Ju...

MotoGP Grand Prix of Aragon 2016: Race Schedule, Live Stream and Top Riders

Marc Marquez returns to Spain as the MotoGP standings leader ahead of Sunday's 2016 Grand Prix of Aragon, but a stagnant period in results could see the young marvel fall closer to the pack this weekend. The 23-year-old holds a 43-point advantage over second-placed Valentino Rossi, but after failing to register a podium finish in either of his last two races, there's everything to ride for at MotorLand Aragon this Sunday. Marquez hasn't won a race since the 2016 German Prix back in July, whereas Rossi has clinched third or higher in his last three outings and is looking to close the gap with only five races of the season remaining. Jorge Lorenzo will also be staking a claim on top spot in Aragon, a race he's won the last two years in succe...

Formula 1’s Latest Rumours and Talk: Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and More

After being scarred by bold promises and overambitious targets, McLaren-Honda are finally beginning to deliver in Formula One. Fernando Alonso's seventh-place finish in the Singapore Grand Prix means the team have now scored double the amount of points they managed to scratch together during their worst season in 35 years in 2015. For a partnership that dominated the sport in the 1980s and '90s, that is still far from good enough, but Alonso has revealed McLaren are looking forward to the 2017 regulation changes, which should allow them to challenge for victories and world championships once more. While McLaren can't wait for next season to start, Ferrari—on course for a second winless campaign in three years—don't want this one...

Jackie Stewart Is Wrong About Lewis Hamilton’s Lifestyle Affecting His Form

Here we go again. Lewis Hamilton has a disappointing result or two and all of a sudden, the two-time defending Formula One world champion is letting his personal life distract him from winning races. This time, the criticism comes from Jackie Stewart, a three-time champion himself, who has been part of the sport for more than 50 years and forgotten more about F1 than you and I will ever know. He also enjoys hearing himself talk (and with that Scottish brogue, why not?) and all that experience does not mean he can't be wrong from time to time. "Maybe you can bottom out," Stewart told the Daily Mail's Jonathan McEvoy. "That can happen through consistent success because when you have consistent success everything can seem so easy." OK, ma...

NASCAR at New Hampshire: Preview, Prediction of the New England 300

The Chase for the Sprint Cup is underway and Kevin Harvick leads all drivers, 1-0, in interview refusals. Martin Truex Jr., however, leads all Chasers, 1-0, in what really matters: wins. After muscling his way to the front of the TMNT 400, Truex cemented his place in the Round of 12*, while the 15 other drivers must wrangle their way to the next round any way they can. That brings us to the New England 300 at Loudon, New Hampshire for the first of two one-mile tracks in this Round of 16**. Six, count ’em, six, drivers led laps at Loudon in the spring, a race won by Matt Kenseth, and it was a race dominated by Toyota, the engines of which led 299 of the 301 laps. So that’s where we stand as we hit Race 2 of the 10-race Chase. Rea...

NASCAR Sued for Racial Discrimination: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction

NASCAR is facing a $500 million lawsuit from a man who claimed the sport refused to work with him and has actively worked to keep African-Americans from participating. Terrance Cox III, the CEO of Diversity Motorsports, filed the suit in court Monday, per Ahiza Garcia of CNN. "In 2016, motorsports remain the most racially segregated sport in the United States," Cox said in his complaint. "[NASCAR has] been complicit in, and supportive of, the racially discriminatory environment that virtually excludes African-Americans from meaningful participation in motorsports racing in the United States." NASCAR's senior circuit, the Sprint Cup Series, does not currently feature any full-time African-American drivers. Its sister circ...

5 of the Most Interesting Radio Messages from 2016 Singapore Grand Prix

For 45 laps, the Singapore Grand Prix was arguably the most forgettable race of the 2016 Formula One season. The Marina Bay Street Circuit, as ever, looked immaculate under the lights, but there was little substance to complement the style until—in an effort to get their world champion on the podium—Mercedes decided to switch Lewis Hamilton onto a three-stop strategy. Hamilton's unexpected tyre change re-energised the night race, as Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen tried and failed to keep the British driver behind for third place and Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo started to hunt down race leader Nico Rosberg. Here, we analyse the best team radio messages from Singapore, with the complaints of Max Verstappen, Romain Grosjean and Felipe Na...

As Martin Truex Jr. Knows, One Win Does Not a Chase Make

Little did Damon Runyan know, when he reportedly said the following, that it was an insightful description of NASCAR's 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup: "The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but that's the way to bet." Runyan (1884-1946) would be more likely to address boxing, baseball or gambling, and no Chase existed until 2004. What Martin Truex Jr. established, winning the Chase opener at Chicagoland Speedway, is that he is the swift. So far. For now. "There have been years, a few years, where I should have won multiple races," Truex said, "but I've never been in a position where I feel like we can go anywhere and win. Right now, I feel like any race track, any weekend, anywhere in the country, we can win....

Formula 1’s Latest Rumours and Talk: Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and More

As he celebrated his 200th Formula One appearance, Nico Rosberg claimed the best victory of his career in Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix. The German sealed a comprehensive pole position at the Marina Bay track on Saturday and led comfortably for much of the race, but Daniel Ricciardo's sudden pit stop just 14 laps from the chequered flag dragged Rosberg into a fight he didn't want. With much fresher, faster tyres, the Red Bull driver caught the leader by almost three seconds per lap at one stage, and Rosberg suddenly became very vulnerable after being in control for so long. Yet the Mercedes driver held his nerve to claim his eighth win of 2016 and his third in succession, and the German has revealed why he was not too concerned about R...

Daniel Ricciardo’s Continued Success Could Cause Problems for Red Bull in 2017

Red Bull have a problem simmering. It is only on the back burner for now, but it could become a full-blown grease fire next year. The problem, which was highlighted by the results of Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix, is that they have two young, very quick drivers—possibly future world champions—under contract for 2017. Granted, that's a nice problem to have, but, as their friends at Mercedes can tell them, having two top-level drivers in a championship-calibre car is sure to cause some headaches. Max Verstappen burst into Formula One last year as a 17-year-old rookie with Toro Rosso, earned a mid-season promotion to Red Bull earlier this year and immediately justified the move with his first win at the Spanish Grand Prix. Dan...
