Sebastian Vettel became the first man ever to win eight grands prix in a row in a single season after taking a dominant victory in the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. It was Vettel’s first win on US soil after making his F1 debut in America at Indianapolis in 2007. And should he take a ninth successive victory in Brazil he will match Alberto Ascari’s long-standing record of nine successive F1 race wins. Vettel held his pole advantage into the opening corner and never looked back, reclaiming his advantage after his one and only pit stop to win from Romain Grosjean and teammate Mark Webber who secured his 40th podium.
