Indianapolis 500 Sees Simona de Silvestro Thankful to Be Racing In Historic RaceIt was just last Thursday that Simona de Silvestro suffered a horrific crash in a practice run.De Silvestro lost control of her car, crashed into the wall and flipped several times before coming to a rest with flames engulfing the 22-year-old's vehicle.De Silvestro luckily only damaged her hands in the potentially career-ending crash and will race in the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500 dressed in bandages after qualifying on Saturday.Using her backup car, De Silvestro grabbed the 24th spot in the historic race.
