NASCAR has announced they may restrict participation by the NASCAR Sprint Cup series drivers in the Nationwide program. The NASCAR Nationwide series is the second-tier developmental series for up and coming drivers hoping to one day be in the top-tier Sprint Cup program. Many NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers dominate the Nationwide races week after week and go on to win the championship at the end of the season. The developmental purpose of these races is alive and well, but the level of fan interest in the lesser known drivers is mediocre at best.
