Jorge Martinez Boero Dies after Dakar Rally Crash

Jorge Martinez Boero has died as a result of what race organizers are saying is head and chest injuries. The Associated Press reported this tragic news, which comes to us via ESPN. The 38-year-old Argentine crashed in the first stage which is in the Atlantic coastal city of Mar del Plata. This is one of the most dangerous events of the year. Last year, two people were killed as a result of actions involved with this race.  Neither of the fatalities last year were people who were racing. One was a man driving a small truck, which was struck by a racing car, and the other was a woman watching the race, who was struck by a car. This is a race for both cars and motorcycles.
