Tragedy Strikes IndyCar Series at Las Vegas with Death of Dan Wheldon

A horrific accident involving much of the field has taken the life of Dan Wheldon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway today according to live reports broadcast on ABC television.The incident occurred early in the race, and the carnage was frightening. This was the finale for the open-wheel series, but there will be no celebration.The race has been canceled, and the drivers will drive five laps around the track to honor the life of Wheldon who sadly is now gone too soon.Little else can be said, at this terrible moment of sadness.
