2011 Indianapolis 500 Winner Dan Wheldon To Compete for $5 Million Bounty

According to Indystar.com, a local Indianapolis newspaper, the 2011 Indianapolis 500 champion Dan Wheldon will be eligible to compete for the $5 million dollar bounty in the Izod IndyCar Series finale in Las Vegas.Izod IndyCar Series CEO Randy Bernard set the bounty for five eligible drivers to come compete in the finale in Vegas, and if they won they'd get $5 million dollars.Wheldon is the first driver to be announced for the October 16th race.Details are yet to be announced, but look for Wheldon to be in the same No. 98 William Rast Honda that he drove in the 500.Wheldon has won 16 career races in the Izod IndyCar Series races including two Indy 500 victories (2005 and 2011) and a series championship in 2005.Read more Motorsports news on ...
