For Aric Almirola, It Was Fun While It Lasted

Aric Almirola got to do what no one else has done, at least publicly. He drove the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet as Jimmie Johnson looked on. For Almirola, it was quite the compliment to be the one chosen to fill in should it be necessary for Johnson to miss a race for the birth of his first child. Almirola won't be driving the Hendrick car again any time soon. Johnson's wife Chandra gave birth to a baby daughter today.  Mother and baby are reported to be doing well, but there will be few, if any, other details released. Certainly the confidence Chad Knaus and the Hendrick team had in Almirola to pilot their Chevrolet around a track in race conditions will look good on his resume. One could have pretty much bet that Johnson would not miss...
