Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg won Sunday afternoon’s German Grand Prix from pole position as the championship leader further extended his lead over team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the top of the drivers’ standings to 14 points with 10 races of the season now complete. It was the Briton, however, who stole the plaudits at Hockenheim after claiming a brilliant third-place finish, despite the Mercedes driver having started the race way down in 20th after an overnight change to his gearbox, and then damaging his front ring after a collision with compatriot Jenson Button halfway through the race.
